Sales - his recovery is on track.
Northamptonshire are hopeful David Sales will be fit for the start of the domestic season in April.
Sales, 32, missed the entire 2009 campaign after undergoing a knee reconstruction.
But the former England A batsman has been working hard during recent months and is now over "90 percent" fit.
"It's been a long road back, but my knee is progressing very nicely now," Sales told the county's official website.
"I'm getting strong in my legs, so I can't wait to be fully fit and ready for the start of the new season."
Northants physio Barry Goudriaan explained: "He is one of the strongest players at the moment because he has worked so hard.
"We are at a stage where David is over 90 percent of the way there and hasn't suffered any major setbacks from his operation.
"Everyone at the club can't wait see him performing at the County Ground again."
