India looking forward to a clean sweep

Kirsten - vowed there will be no let-up.

India coach Gary Kirsten has promised there will be no let-up despite a much-changed side taking the field for the final one-dayer against South Africa in Ahmedabad.

India have already secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series and, with the final match reduced to a dead rubber, the home side have rested key players including openers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag and off-spinner Harbhajan Singh.

With Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan already out due to injury, India will field a virtual second-string team - but Kirsten believes the situation offers fringe players a chance to showcase their skills.

"We take every game seriously and we are looking forward to a clean sweep," Kirsten said.

"It feels good to have so many young players in the side because they bring a lot of freshness and energy to the team.

"It is sad that they get only a match or two, but all of us have been through those phases and it is for them to use the opportunities they get.

"The more these players respond in a pressure situation the better for Indian cricket. It is important that there is competition for places. It's exciting and you want that to happen," he said.

Under the South African's charge India went to the top of the International Cricket Council's rankings for Test teams and pipped the Proteas to second place in the in the ODI rankings.

Tendulkar paid Kirsten rich tributes following his world record 200 not out in the second ODI in Gwalior and the coach responded by praising the way his players have performed.

"It has been a great season for the team and we can be proud of our performances," he said.

"The guys have handled pressure situations very well. We have had some disappointments for sure, but the season in general has been a great success."

Kirsten was already looking ahead to the new season with expectation.

"As a coach your job never ends," he said.

"I will take a few days off during the Indian Premier League but I will stay in touch with the team nonetheless. We have got to do some work on our Twenty20 game. We haven't done well in that form of the game in the last year or so," he said.
